Our Sages Say – “The world stands on three things”

The world stands upon three things - upon Torah, upon Avodah - divine service, and upon Gemilus Chasodim - acts of kindness. (Pirkei Avot)This three things are the three pillars of the work JNY is doing -

  • Torah – Jewish education for all ages on all levels
  • Avodah – The Shul (Synagogue) - Open to all every day of the year
  • Gemilus Chasodim – Open heart to anyone in need of kindness

“By occupying himself in all these three things, a Jew merits his own personal redemption. He is redeemed from among the nations of the world, and from the foreign elements within him. Moreover, he sustains the entire world, by causing it to follow the will of G‑d.”—Chassidic Teaching

Our Inspiration

“Let’s welcome Moshiach with acts of goodness and kindness”—the Lubavitcher Rebbe

Inspired by seven generations of illustrious leaders beginning with Rabbi Schneur Zalman - the first Lubavitcher (Chabad) Rebbe – their students – Chassidim and Shluchim (Emissaries) have consistently been at the forefront of Jewish education and community activism. The work of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson – the Seventh Lubatcher Rebbe, who assumed leadership of Chabad in 1950, is legendary. Motivated by a profound love for humanity and spurred by boundless optimism and dedication, the Rebbe lifted the global Jewish community from the ashes of the Holocaust, launching an unprecedented range of Jewish institutions, outreach programs and social services.JNY is devoted to fulfil it’s mission based on traditional Jewish values, teachings of Chabad, and the Rebbe's wisdom, vision and directions.

JNY Mission Statement

To be a Centre for everything Jewish for all Jewish residents of North York, by providing a warm home and facilitating educational, cultural, recreational and religious  programs and activities, and fulfilling through this our part in the Rebbe’s goal to welcome Moshiach with acts of goodness and kindness.
